Advice sent to parents/carers:
As you will be aware, the Government is closely monitoring the spread of the Coronavirus.
The risk to individuals remains low. However, the advice to parents returning from half term holidays and who may
have been skiing in Northern Italy is the following;
If you have returned from these specific areas since 19th February, you should call NHS111 and stay indoors and
avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms:
Dear Parent/Carer,
The parent workshop will focus on Children's Health and Development. We have invited Shelley Winterton who is a School Nurse Practitioner who will answer questions and talk about local services.
Oaklands' staff will talk to parents about the government's compulsory Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) policy which will affect all schools from September 2020. We would like to hear your views about this and find out what you would like your children to know and understand on this topic.
Refreshments will be available from 9.50 a.m.
Date: Thursday 27th February 2020
Time: 10.00 am – 12.00 noon
Venue: Meeting Room, Oaklands School
Organiser: Oaklands School (Mrs Gangat will not be available on the day)
If we do not have sufficient numbers of parents attending, we will cancel the session.
Please, confirm your attendance on the letter in your child's book bag and return to school by Wednesday 26th February.
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Osborne

Parent/Carer Session
21st November at 10.00 am - 12.00 noon
Oaklands School
For November's Parent/Carer Session, we invited Rina Patel EHC Inclusion Officer from Special Education Service and Nayna Amlani from SEND Local Offer team.
Rina's role is to coordinate and manage the administration of the statutory assessment procedures for children with special educational needs and disabilities under relevant government legislation.
Nayna is a "Local Offer" and "Preparing for Adulthood" Project Officer, she co-ordinates the Local Offer live event and also the website. The Local Offer event brings together organisations and service providers who share information, processes and services that support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (age 0 - 25 years). The other element of Nayna's role is preparing for adulthood, looking at the transition for young people with SEND to adulthood.
Everyone is welcome to come to the Oaklands Parent/Carer session. We run monthly sessions to provide parent/carer of Oaklands pupils and the broader community with support and information about local fun and leisure activities, workshop and conference and other support services for children and young people with SEN and disabilities in Leicester City.
Date: Thursday 21st November 2019 Time: 10.00 am - 12.00 (noon)
Venue: Meeting Room, Oaklands School
Organiser: Mahjabeen Gangat - Parent Governor
If we do not have sufficient numbers of parents attending, we will cancel the session.
Please call the school to confirm your attendance by Tuesday 19th November 2019? The final parent/Carer session for 2019 will be on Thursday 12th December 10.00 am - 12.00 noon; we will send details nearer the time.
We would also like to invite you to the Xmas Fair at school on Friday 6th December 2019, at 9.30 am - 11.30 am. Siblings are welcome and to meet Santa and have tea and cakes in our 'Pop up cafe'.
